LA PLAZA
Since 1971, La Plaza has provided educational programs, workforce development support, and access to healthcare and human services for Latino children and families in Central Indiana.
The Latino Opportunity Center (LOC) at La Plaza offers long-term solutions to Latino poverty, promoting the economic and social growth of the Latino community. LOC is a workforce development program focused on empowerment, supporting Latino adults who are transitioning from a job to a rewarding career.
LOC participants receive assistance in areas such as:
-
Financial counseling
-
Access to income support programs
-
Job search
-
Entrepreneurship
-
Educational opportunities
The LOC staff is bilingual and bicultural, offering services designed by Latinos for Latinos. They provide case management to help overcome individual barriers to education and employment, and work with workforce partners to help participants find jobs.
Statistics:
Less than 15% of Latinos have a college or professional degree, and nearly half of Latino adults lack a high school diploma or equivalent.
